Define your space
Island Interiors LLC
ANNIE PARR   PRINCIPAL DESIGNER, CCO

Island Interiors has always believed that local businesses should connect and give back to the students of the Martha’s Vineyard. After some spring cleaning in our fabric showroom, we were able to donate a large amount of fabric to the Charter School in West Tisbury. The art department explored the possibilities of the new materials and let their imagination run. Displayed here is one of the winning shoes that walked the runway. Congratulations to everyone that was involved!

“Thanks to all for a job well done! I’m thrilled with the kitchen and dining room renovations!”

Annie recently served as the interiors consultant on a team of professionals who designed and oversaw the construction of the new Martha’s Vineyard Financial Group building on State Road in West Tisbury.  Photographer Randi Baird documented the interior office spaces, designed by Annie, with a series of beautiful images.  Randi has posted her photos in a blog narrative on her website, which can be viewed by clicking on the following link: http://rbaird.com/blog/do-silos-and-finances-go-together/

"We loved the way the living room came out; it has a totally different feel than before, but yet still connected to the rest of the house. Sophisticated is the word that came to my mind when I first walked in. We love the final results, and are looking forward to the bedroom being finished."

Annie views interior design as “setting the stage” for her clients’ lives to flourish.  Her work as a designer goes beyond providing advice on layout /design, furniture selection (stock and custom), and color/fabric choices.  She endeavors to assist clients with transforming their properties into comfortable, efficient and uplifting spaces, with the goal of enhancing and celebrating their individual, family, and professional lives. Annie works personally with every client to assess their lifestyle, tastes, and budget, and then tailors the design process to meet the unique challenge of every space. Annie’s keen eye and creative thinking, her attention to detail and to the bigger picture, and her knowledge of and connections with vendors and the local construction community – built over twenty-five years as a designer here on the Vineyard – virtually ensures that every client will be able to define his, her or their space in way that will lead to years of enjoyable living.

Realtor Anne Mayhew invited Annie to discuss working as an interior designer.

Anne Mayhew: What is your favorite thing about being an interior designer?

Annie Parr: Reading into a client’s life, lifestyle, interests, etc. and creating a space that not only defines, but supports and celebrates, or creates an experience for the lives of the people who occupy those spaces (or who may pass through those spaces).  It’s creating that experience that makes my design work similar to the theater….it’s all about setting the stage.

The interview can be located on Anne Mayhew’s website www.mvonthespot.com.
